Born in Roskilde, Denmark, contemporary artist Kenneth Blom moved to Norway as a young child.
Blom attended the Oslo Academy of Fine Arts from 1990 to 1994 and completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düssedorf in 1995. Since then Blom has established himself as a modern Nordic contemporary artist in galleries worlwide.
Kenneth Blom’s style of painting is one characterized by merging elements of figuration and spacial composition.
Reminiscent of the style of Edvard Munch, Blom's figures seemlessly mesh with their surroundings, invoking the image of a shadow or vaguely reflected image.
Blom's architectural settings are distinctly Nordic in their strict lines and perspective. In combining these dreamlike human figures within spaces which are not clearly defined, Blom creates his own unique expression.
“One very rarely comes across pictures that are so Norwegian.”
- Nowegian art historian Åsmund Thorkildsen

”Sometimes we find ourselves at a point in life where we lose our balance. We can fall in love, lose someone close to us, become ill or lose our job. In situations like these we often feel like we lose our footing.
Blom's paintings are very forceful and often portray existential scenarios. We do not know how the story in the painting will end, just as in life"
